President Martti Ahtisaari and President
Yeltsin had a telephone conversation
The
President of the Republic, Martti Ahtisaari and the
President of the Russian Federation, Boris Yeltsin,
had a telephone conversation on Friday, January 15,
1999, at 9 o'clock Finnish time.
During the call, which was in honour of the New Year,
both Presidents concluded that the relations between
Finland and Russia were good and expressed their
satisfaction at the multitude of contacts at
different levels between the two countries. The
Presidents also discussed the relations between
Russia and the European Union, focusing on the
development of the EU's Northern Dimension.
