A dinner for
the Diplomatic Corps in Helsinki
The
President of the Republic and Mrs Eeva Ahtisaari will
entertain the heads of the diplomatic missions
accredited to Helsinki and their spouses to dinner in
the Presidential Palace on Wednesday, April 21, 1999.
About 170 guests will attend, ca. 130 of whom will be
diplomats. Finnish political leaders, top-ranking
civil servants and civil servants from the Ministry
for Foreign Affairs have also been invited.
The following persons will be seated at the top table
alongside the President of the Republic and Mrs Eeva
Ahtisaari: The Doyen of the Diplomatic Corps, the
Ambassador of Burkina Faso, Anne Konate; the
Ambassador of Ethiopia and Mrs Roman Gebre Selassie;
the Ambassador of Botswana, Sekgoma Tshekedi Khama;
the Ambassador of Austria and Mrs Gerhild Ettmayer;
the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Tarja Halonen;
Committee Counsellor, Pentti Arajärvi; and First
Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Sirkka-Liisa
Anttila and Risto Anttila.

Mushroom cappuccino and smoked-reindeer wafer
Partridge breast in spruce jelly with marinated
asparagus
Smoke-flavoured fillet of hare and morel-tar sauce
Birch liqueur apples and willowherb ice cream
During the dinner, there will be a performance by the
Guard's Band conducted by Music Major Elias Seppälä
and the octet of the Singers of the Student Union.
