New official car for the President

The President of the Republic of Finland has been provided with a new official state car. The car is an armoured Audi A8 L Security quattro and was put into service on Thursday 11 April 2024. The new car replaces the previous 12 year old state car of the President.

The new official state car was procured through a framework agreement put out to tender by the State. The tender was conducted in cooperation with the Prime Minister’s Office, which also renewed its corresponding official car. The tender was launched in autumn 2022.

The procurement of an official state car for the President of the Republic of Finland is not tied to a term of office or a person, but is a long-term lifecycle acquisition in line with the operational and financial planning of the Office of the President of the Republic.

The total cost of the purchase of the presidential state car is 1.1 million euros, about half of which is car tax. The total amount also includes costs for regular maintenance, safety inspections and training.
