President of Kosovo on working visit to Finland

President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani Sadriu paid a working visit to Finland on Wednesday 23 April 2025. The visit was hosted by President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb.

President Stubb and President Osmani Sadriu held formal talks at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki. The Presidents discussed bilateral relations between Finland and Kosovo, transatlantic relations, the situation in the Western Balkans and European security.

“The bilateral relations between Kosovo and Finland are excellent and close, historically and today. In recent decades, many Finns have worked together with Kosovo to help Kosovo achieve independence and integrate into the European family,” President Stubb said.

“My friend and mentor, the late President Martti Ahtisaari, was a great friend of Kosovo. His vision of an independent and multi-ethnic Kosovo in the heart of Europe remains an important guideline for all of us,” President Stubb continued.

At the end of the visit, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, presented President Stubb with the Presidential Military Medal in recognition of Finland’s contribution to NATO’s KFOR mission in Kosovo. President Stubb expressed his gratitude for the recognition and said that the KFOR operation is one of Finland’s most significant commitments to international crisis management:

“Since its start in 1999, approximately 7,500 Finns have participated in the operation.”

The President acknowledged that the recognition and honour of receiving the medal goes to the Finnish Defence Forces and the soldiers who served in the operation.
