President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb participated in the Globsec Forum in Prague on Saturday 31 August 2024.
The President’s program included official meetings with President of Czechia Petr Pavel, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and President of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar. The presidents exchanged views on issues such as the security situation in Europe and the Middle East.
President Stubb also took part in the main panel discussions at the event. The President discussed the future of Europe with Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen and Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama.
“Ukraine has already won an important battle by consolidating its place in the West. But the war is not over and Ukraine needs all our support,” President Stubb said.
In the afternoon, the President gave his keynote remarks on the ongoing shift in world politics and discussed the Finnish concept for comprehensive security in an interview with Róbert Vass, Director of Globsec.
“Finland is happy to set an example in terms of creating preparedness throughout society. Crisis preparedness is a matter for the whole nation,” the President said.
After that, President Stubb took part in a discussion with young influencers at the Globsec Young Leaders Forum. The discussion focused on Finland’s role as a member of the EU and NATO.
Hosted by Czech President Petr Pavel, this year’s forum focused on (re)defining the global order, the transition from war to just peace, charting the geotech frontier and Europe’s make-or-break moment in geopolitics.
The GLOBSEC Forum is an annual high-level platform dedicated to promoting international dialogue and cooperation with a focus on current global challenges. The brings together key figures in politics, business, international organisations and other influential stakeholders from than 70 countries.
