President Stubb receives honorary doctorate from Uniarts Helsinki


The University of the Arts in Helsinki (Uniarts Helsinki) conferred an honorary doctorate on President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb at a ceremony held on 17 August 2024.

According to Uniarts Helsinki, President Stubb has highlighted the importance of art and culture as a mental resource, as part of the national security of supply. Through his actions and choices, President Alexander Stubb has lived out Uniarts Helsinki’s values – skill, courage and openness.

In addition to President Stubb, seven other distinguished individuals were awarded with an honorary doctorate by Uniarts Helsinki.

An honorary doctorate is the highest distinction a university may confer upon a person. Honorary doctors from Uniarts Helsinki are pioneers and influencers in their fields from Finland and around the world who have advocated arts education or promoted the role and importance of the arts in society.
