President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb met with President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló on Thursday 22 August 2024 in Helsinki.
At a luncheon at the Presidential Palace, the presidents discussed Finland’s and the European Union’s relations with African countries, the security situation in West Africa and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. After lunch, the presidents took part in a discussion hosted by the CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation on the political dynamics of West Africa and the Sahel region.
The delegation of President Sissoco Embaló included Minister of Foreign Affairs Carlos Pinto Pereira. During the visit to Finland, the delegation also met Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio.
