President Halonen to attend EU-Latin America Summit

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen will take part in the European Union - Latin America and the Caribbean Summit in Madrid on 17 – 18 May 2010.

The central theme of the Summit is “Towards a new phase of the bi-regional association: innovation and technology for sustainable development and social inclusion”. Also climate change and the current economic situation and financial crises will be discussed during the working sessions of the heads of state and government.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Alexander Stubb will also attend the Madrid summit.
