President of Hungary László Sólyom made a state visit to Finland on 28 – 30 March 2006. The official reception ceremonies and the talks between the Presidents of Hungary and Finland were held at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday 29 March. The Presidents discussed bilateral relations between Finland and Hungary and current issues concerning EU. Discussion topics included also Finland’s coming EU Presidency and the cooperation between Finno-Ugric peoples.
President Sólyom met also Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen, paid a visit to Parliament and laid a wreath on the heroes’ graves in Hietaniemi Cemetery. The programme included also a visit to VTT Technical Research Center of Finland and a trip to Turku.
