The Panel includes 21 high-level members. Tha Panel is tasked to address sustainable development by exploring approaches for building low-carbon, green and resilient economy that can eradicate poverty and ensure a dignified life for all. In August 2010, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon established a High-level Panel on Global Sustainability. He appointed President of the Republic Tarja Halonen and President Jacob Zuma of South Africa as co-chairs of the Panel.
