President Halonen travelling to Berlin

President of the Republic of Finland Tarja Halonen will travel to Berlin on 19-20 June 2006 to speak at a conference arranged by the Federation of German Industries (BDI). She will also meet President Horst Köhler and Chancellor Angela Merkel during her stay in Berlin.

In her keynote speech President Halonen will deal with the future of Europe and the EU's success factors in global competition. Germany's highest politicians and business representatives will attend the conference, where the main theme will be growth and employment. Previous speakers at the conference, which is arranged every other year, have included President Jacques Chirac of France, President Aleksander Kwasniewski of Poland and Prime Minister José María Aznar of Spain.
