President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö held discussions with the Parliamentary Committee on Defence on Friday, 11 March 2022. The meeting, held by remote connection, focused on Russia’s attack on Ukraine and the impact of the situation on Finland’s foreign and security policy.
President Niinistö meets regularly with Parliamentary Committees to discuss current issues with them. The President last met with the Defence Committee on 21 October 2021.
Yesterday, President Niinistö met with the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of Parliament, the Chairs of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committees, and the leaders of parties elected to Parliament. In addition, the President also had a separate meeting by remote connection with the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, 9 March.
