President of the Republic, Sauli Niinistö met Mario Draghi, President of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt on Monday, 6 October. The topics discussed included the economic situation in Europe and the broader outlook for the world economy. After the private talks, discussions continued with ECB Executive Board members.
On Tuesday, 7 October, President Niinistö made a speech on economic relations between Finland and Germany at a seminar organised by the Frankfurt Am Main Chamber of Trade and Industry, the Finnish Embassy in Germany and the German-Finnish Chamber of Commerce. Other speakers at the seminar included Matti Alahuhta, Chair of the Board at Aalto University, Pekka Lundmark, President & CEO of Konecranes, and Heinz Gerhard Wente of Continental AG and Oliver Rittgen of Bayer AG.
