President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö met with chairs of parties represented in the Parliament on Thursday 19 October 2023 at Mäntyniemi.
The meeting focused on current foreign and security policy issues. Among the topics discussed were the situation in the Middle East, Finland’s support for Ukraine and the intensifying defence cooperation with key allies. In addition, the President and the chairs discussed the damage to critical infrastructure in the Baltic Sea, which is being investigated as aggravated criminal mischief.
The meeting was attended by chairs Petteri Orpo, Riikka Purra, Antti Lindtman, Annika Saarikko, Sofia Virta, Li Andersson, Sari Essayah and Harry Harkimo and vice chair Sandra Bergqvist.
President Niinistö last met with the party chairs in February 2023.
