President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö met Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi on Wednesday 25 November 2020. The topics of the virtual discussion included the future of Iran’s nuclear program and the JCPOA agreement, question regarding nuclear arms control negotiations, and possibilities for cooperation in nuclear safety projects in the Arctic region.
Mr Grossi is visiting Finland on 24–26 November at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto and Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä.
The International Atomic Energy Agency, an independent UN organization, was set up to promote peaceful and safe use of nuclear energy and to ensure that nuclear material under its supervision is not used to further any military purpose.
