President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö had a phone call with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Saturday, 21 May 2022.
The Presidents discussed Finland’s NATO membership, the security of the whole Euro-Atlantic region and the fight against terrorism. Finland condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
President Niinistö told President Erdoğan that as NATO Allies Finland and Turkey will commit to each other’s security and our bilateral relationship will thus grow stronger.
The Presidents agreed that the close dialogue between Finland and Turkey continues.
The phone call was initiated by Finland.
