On Friday 8 April, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed Russia’s attack on Ukraine and the security situation in Europe.
The meeting agreed that Finland will expel two members of the sent personnel of the Embassy of Russia in Helsinki. In addition, the extension of the visa of one person working in the Russian Embassy has been refused. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will notify the Russian Ambassador of the matter. This is in line with the actions taken by other Member States of the European Union. Expulsion decisions fall under the competence of national authorities, and each Member State acts based on its own analysis of the situation.
The President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy also discussed the government report on changes in the security environment.
