President of the Republic and Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discuss defence cooperation between Finland and United States and situation at Finland’s eastern border

In their meeting on Friday 17 November, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy received a briefing on deepening bilateral defence cooperation with the United States and continued their discussion on the preliminary outcome of the negotiations between Finland and the United States on a Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA).

The President and the Ministerial Committee also received updates on the situation at Finland’s eastern border as well as Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine and the security situation in Europe.

In addition, the President and the Ministerial Committee discussed the Defence Forces’ participation in international training and exercise cooperation in 2024 and the upcoming meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
