Dear Mothers,
Today we celebrate you, the mothers who make Finland a good country to live in – good to be a mother and good to be a child.
For 75 years now, Mother’s Day has included the presentation of awards to deserving mothers. This year, too, we will award mothers who, by their presence and actions, have created safe and loving homes. Mothers who have devoted themselves to the daily lives of their children and have set a good example. Mothers who do what is best not only for their own children, but also very often for the children of others.
My warmest congratulations to all of the award-winning mothers.
Each of you is worthy of our high regard. With your nurturing, support and understanding, you provide lifelong sustenance to your children. Together with your children, you are building the Finland of the future, which is no small task.
To all mothers and your loved ones, I wish you a wonderful Mother’s Day.
